Clinical Training

Train with CAPS

IU Indianapolis Counseling and Psychological Services highly values clinical training by offering graduate students at the master’s and doctoral levels the opportunity to conduct individual and group therapies, assessment, and mental health and interpersonal violence outreach activities.

Clinical training supports CAPS’ mission to make IU Indianapolis students feel empowered, safe, valued, and connected to mental health resources. We collaborate with campus partners on mental health efforts including sexual/relationship violence prevention, increasing access for traditionally underserved student populations, suicide prevention, and post-crisis support.

Practicum and internship students come from programs across Indiana and are closely supervised by licensed mental health professionals.

"Each year, I have been impressed with the trainees who have joined CAPS. They exhibit a strong degree of talent and dedication in their professional identity. I strongly believe that our training site yields a comprehensive experience for the future mental health professional."
